¿Qué futuro construiremos sobre las ruínas del presente?, 2024

Digital glitches and urban debris permeate this video poem that explores whether errors in physical and virtual reality can open up opportunities for reinvention. The soundtrack combines the sounds of demolition and breathing, creating an atmosphere of urgency. Ruin ceases to be an end and becomes speculative matter. The viewer is called to imagine futures based on what we have bequeathed.

A line in the landscape, in a physical and geographical sense, represents the outline of a mountain, the silhouette of a building, or the division between heaven and earth. However, the line possesses a deeper power: it becomes a symbolic boundary, separating the known from the unknown, the tangible from the abstract, physical from emotional realities. On a map, these lines become political boundaries, tools of power and control.
But when a fault appears on a map, in a landscape, or in a line, it causes a rupture in the structure and organization of space, in the established order—both physical and social. At the heart of these failures lies a paradox: chaos, but also the opening of new routes and possibilities. A flaw in the code opens a crack in reality, revealing an imaginary territory where boundaries blur. Reality becomes fluid, subjective, a veil that hides the fragility of its supporting structures. The error, far from being an obstacle, becomes a compass.
For example, a flaw in the algorithm can create a distortion that mimics the natural erosion of wind on a rock. Thus, texture is not limited to aesthetics; it has the power to emulate the surface properties of any object, creating a virtual skin that extends across a volume.
Now, imagine a virtual landscape. Imagine a vast green field, dotted with flowers in every color of the rainbow. Imagine the rough texture of stones, the soft sand underfoot, the rough bark of a tree. The virtual skin becomes increasingly sophisticated, where the immaterial becomes palpable and imagination becomes an active force that transcends all boundaries and limitations. Sometimes the simple act of observing is not enough.
