Projects across curating, critical writing, learning, institutional collaboration and artistic practice are research-led and developed in close dialogue with each context. The practice brings together curating, writing, public programmes and artistic production, with particular attention to South American art, representation and self-representation, dissident bodies, ecologies of visibility, memory, discard and cultural circulation.
Work is undertaken on commission or in partnership with museums, universities, foundations, galleries, collections, independent spaces, research and publishing platforms, public bodies and private partners. Each collaboration is structured according to the context, scope and conditions of the project.
Curatorial research and exhibition development
Research and development for exhibitions, curatorial projects, collection-related projects and public programmes. Scope may include concept development, selection of artists and artworks, artist liaison, exhibition narratives, curatorial and interpretive texts, and curatorial oversight of installation.
Critical, curatorial and editorial writing
Research and writing of critical essays, curatorial texts, catalogue and exhibition texts, interpretive materials, publications and editorial projects, undertaken as independent commissions or as part of broader curatorial projects.
Cultural project development and institutional partnerships
Development of curatorial, exhibition-based, educational and institutional projects for funding programmes, cultural incentive schemes, open calls, foundations, public bodies and cultural partnerships. Depending on the project, scope may include application preparation, work plans, timelines, budgets and institutional materials.
Public programmes, talks and learning
Development of public programmes and delivery of guest lectures, seminars, workshops, short courses, curatorial laboratories and public conversations for universities, museums, cultural institutions and teams. Available in person, online or in hybrid formats, in Portuguese or English.
Commissioned artworks and site- and context-responsive projects
Development of commissioned artworks, installations, and site-specific and site-responsive projects in response to the site, collection, audiences or institutional context. Transnational projects or those requiring complex production may be developed through BraSA.Art and with specialist collaborators.
