Insisting on Existing (Insistir em Existir), 2026

Insisting on Existing (2026) is an installation by Analize Nicolini composed of a modular cement column, smaller cement artefacts with embedded gloves, a punching bag, and a suspended tatami. The work reorganises the logic of impact: the column occupies the place of the blow, the punching bag remains as a displaced shadow, and the tatami is lifted from the ground to the ceiling.

The installation distributes weight, structure and resistance as unstable architecture. Gloves of different types, associated with distinct regimes of body and labour, are incorporated into cement, fixing effort into matter and making visible what sustains, protects and wears down the systems that use it.

In this work, persistence is not metaphorical. It is a material condition: labour, time, impact, circulation and survival become form.
