Lenses, integrated digital media and technologies from Brazil and South America, in dialogue with Canada and India.
#CONTENT+ / #CONTEÚDO+ / #CONTENIDO+ is a curatorial project by Analize Nicolini conceived as an international open call and collective exhibition connecting Brazil, South America, Canada and India, with planned presentations in Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles. The project investigated contemporary artistic practices based on lenses, integrated digital media and technologies, examining how images, systems, devices, design, engineering, customized systems and architecture applied to art participate in the production of cultural visibility in the twenty-first century.
The project was approved under Brazil’s Federal Cultural Incentive Law / Lei Rouanet — PRONAC 200521, Process 01400.000488/2020-87, Article 18, Patronage — with an approved budget of R$ 1,366,240.00. Although approved, the project was not realized because the required funds were not fully raised. This page presents the project as an approved curatorial proposal, an international circulation plan and a research document within contemporary curatorial practice.
Structured around a public open call, #CONTENT+ planned to select up to 50 visual artists — 30 from Brazil and South America, 10 from Canada and 10 from India — with individual awards for selected artists. The proposal combined exhibition-making, a digital catalogue, educational actions and online dissemination, bringing together artistic production, international circulation, public formation and free access.
The curatorial axis approached art as a field of political recomposition: not by reducing artworks to ideological schemes, but by considering art’s capacity to place cultures, technologies, territories and publics in relation. Bringing together works produced from different geographical, political and technological realities, the project proposed a dialogue between South America, North America and Asia, with Brazil as a point of articulation and enunciation.
The non-realization of #CONTENT+ does not diminish its relevance within Analize Nicolini’s trajectory. It marks a decisive stage in her practice as an artist-curator, producer and researcher: the formulation of a large-scale international project, the structuring of a public cultural funding mechanism, the design of an open-call model and the consolidation of research into contemporary art, technology, circulation and systems of visibility.
