PROFILE

Analize Nicolini is a Brazilian visual artist, curator, modern and contemporary art critic, and researcher. Her practice brings together image, language, body, matter, and space to investigate the regimes through which bodies, narratives, and artworks become visible, legible, and able to circulate — or are refused by those systems. She works with photography, video, performance, installation, sound, sculpture, and text, incorporating documentation, mediation, circulation, and exhibition protocols into the very structure of her works.

From her situated position as an intersex woman, she addresses self-representation, narrative sovereignty, normativity, memory, residue, systems of value, and the politics of the gaze. In her curatorial practice, she conceives exhibitions, public programs, and research structures that place artworks, artists, institutions, and publics in relation, with particular attention to the circulation and legitimation of art produced in and from South America.

Her trajectory combines a background in Economics and Marketing with experience in publishing, cultural management, exhibition production, public programming, and institution-building. In 2019, she founded BraSA.Art, an independent platform through which she develops artistic and curatorial projects, residencies, publications, transnational exchanges, and circulation structures for contemporary South American practices.
