My Story Let Me Tell It — Act I, 2024
Open edition, unnumbered. The standard framed version is available in a horizontal format, measuring 21 × 29 cm, or a vertical format, measuring 29 × 21 cm, with mat and frame. Each unit is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Commissioned versions may be produced in other dimensions and configurations, including on pre-existing mirrors or architectural mirrored surfaces; production, installation, and pricing are defined individually for each project.

My Story, Let Me Tell It — Act I presents the phrase “Minha História Deixa Que Eu Conto” (“My Story Let Me Tell It”) applied in adhesive vinyl onto a mirror. The text remains fixed while the reflective surface incorporates whoever stands before it, as well as other presences and elements of the surrounding space. Statement and reflected image therefore occupy the same field.
The phrase stages a dispute over narrative authorship. “Minha” (“my”) establishes the first person; “deixa” (“let”) presupposes an interlocutor whose interference is being limited; and “eu conto” (“I tell it”) claims the act of narration for that subject.
In front of the mirror, however, the position of the speaker becomes unstable. The statement can be read as the artist’s voice while also being temporarily occupied by whoever appears reflected in its surface. The work thus brings the assertion of narrative authorship into tension with the viewer’s own image and position before the work.
As the first act of My Story Let Me Tell It, the work establishes a relation between language, reflection and narrative sovereignty that is subsequently displaced across spatial, vocal, juridical and sculptural forms in Acts II, III and IV.
